CROUCH END CLAYHOUSE
Mug Making Weekend Workshop
6th/7th Sept (28th Sept to glaze)

Service Description
Mugs are a pottery favourite, and there’s something special about enjoying a brew from a mug you made yourself. This three-day workshop is dedicated to mugs, and is a perfect introduction for anyone wanting to try pottery for the first time, or those still new to clay who want to focus on all things mug-related. Led by Clayhouse mentor Vanessa, you’ll learn how to throw a cylinder on the potter’s wheel, trim and refine it to become a mug body, and how to make and attach handles. On Day 1, Vanessa will demo throwing a cylinder on the wheel. Then it’s your turn! You’ll centre the clay, then practice how to pull up the walls to make a cylinder. On Day 2, you’ll be back on the wheel to trim and refine your mug bodies. We’ll look at different handle styles and techniques before making and attaching handles to your creations. Day 3 is all about glazing, the final stage! Things to know about our courses *You should not miss the first or final class. *If you miss 1 class on an 8 week course or 2 classes on a 12 week course, we will try and fit you into another class to make up the time.
